The agreement
These terms are between you and the provider named in the Impressum. Using Ryfa means accepting them.
Ryfa is free and carries no advertising. Ryfa Plus, described below, is the only thing in it that is sold.
Ryfa Plus
Ryfa Plus adds widgets, lists and list ranking, recaps, taste and scale statistics, extra rating sounds and a second app icon. Rating, your library, your backlog, import, sharing and friends are free without it. Plus is sold by Apple through the App Store, as a yearly or a monthly subscription.
A subscription renews automatically each month or each year, as you chose, at the price shown when you bought it, unless you turn it off at least 24 hours before the period ends. You turn it off in the subscription settings of your Apple ID. Payment is taken by Apple when you confirm, and refunds are Apple's to grant.
Nothing you made is part of it. Your library, your scores, your lists, your notes and keeping them on your account are free whether or not you buy it, and stopping a subscription locks the Plus features again and takes nothing away.
What Ryfa is
A private place to rate what you have seen, heard, played and read, and to keep the record of it. Scores are yours: no average, no critic number, no prediction and no vote count is ever shown, because a number in front of you before you have decided is a number you cannot un-see.
The catalogue is metadata: titles, credits, dates, cover art, and the existence of editions. Ryfa hosts no audio, no video and no copy of any work. Where a work is available on Apple Music, Spotify or a streaming service, Ryfa can open that service; it plays nothing itself.
What you may not do
- Do not post a link to material, anywhere text can be typed. Describe a release; never route anyone to a copy of it. This is refused by the database, not merely discouraged.
- Do not upload or write anything unlawful, hateful, harassing, deceptive, or sexual material involving children.
- Do not impersonate anybody, and do not publish private information about anybody.
- Do not use artwork belonging to somebody else as a cover where you have no right to it.
- Do not automate access to the catalogue proxy or attempt to extract the keys behind it.
What you write
Your notes, scores and entries stay yours. When you contribute an entry to the shared catalogue, you allow Ryfa and other users to see and use that entry inside the app, which is the whole point of contributing it. You can withdraw it by deleting your account: contributions nobody else has rated are deleted with you, and the rest lose your name and stay for the people who did rate them.
Do not contribute anything you do not have the right to contribute.
Reporting and enforcement
Anything a person wrote can be reported from the place it appears, and unlawful content can be notified through Report illegal content in Settings. A notice is acknowledged with a reference as soon as it is lodged.
Where content is removed or an account restricted, the person affected is given a statement of reasons: what was done, on what grounds, what facts it rested on, whether any automated means were involved, and how to challenge it. Decisions are made by a person. No automated detection and no automated decision-making is used.
Repeated unfounded notices and repeated infringing contributions both lead to a suspension, after a warning.
Availability
Ryfa works offline. The catalogue does not: it depends on sources that can change their terms, their prices or their availability without notice, and if one of them stops answering, that part of the app stops working.
Nothing here is a promise that the service is uninterrupted or that any particular title can be found.
Liability
Liability is unlimited for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and wherever the Product Liability Act applies. For ordinary negligence, liability exists only where a duty essential to the contract has been breached, and is then limited to the damage typical for this kind of agreement.
Ryfa is not responsible for the accuracy of metadata supplied by third-party sources, and not for what other users write.
Ending it
You can stop at any time by deleting the app, and you can erase your account from Settings. The provider may terminate an account that repeatedly breaks these terms, with reasons given.
Law
German law applies. If you are a consumer, this does not remove the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in.
